Jennifer Kummer, Principal Horn

 

Jennifer Kummer, Principal Hornist of the Parthenon Chamber Orchestra, is the Principal Hornist of “Nashville String Machine”, a position she has held since moving to Nashville in 1997. As a session player, Jennifer has enjoyed an incredibly eclectic career recording for numerous publishing companies, jingle writers, country, jazz, gospel, and pop artists as well as video games, movies, musicals and cruise ship entertainment soundtracks.

As an orchestral musician Jennifer's diverse experience includes performing as Principal Hornist for the Nashville Opera, the Huntsville Symphony, and the Memphis Symphony, and as Assistant Principal with the Nashville Symphony and the Grant Park Symphony. She has traveled to Boston, New York and many cities in Europe to perform with the horn section of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. She is currently the Principal Hornist of the Gateway Chamber Orchestra based out of Austin Peay University.

Jennifer is a member of the newly formed Music City Winds Woodwind Quintet comprised of an eclectic group of freelance musicians. She also performs frequently with the Nashville Brass Ensemble.

Jennifer studied at Western Illinois University, the University of Southern California and finished her Masters degree in performance at Middle Tennessee State University while teaching full time as an interim at Tennessee Technological University in 2007. She resides in Inglewood with her husband Stephen, her daughters Elsa and Greta, and their 152 pound Great Dane, Gandalf.
