Betsy Lamb, Viola

 

Betsy Lamb, a Nashville native, returned to her hometown to play music professionally after obtaining an undergraduate degree in Violin Performance and a masters degree in Viola Performance, both from the University of Michigan.

An avid lover of opera, Betsy began performing it in 2002 at the Spoleto Fesitval USA. Since then, she has also performed with the Santa Fe Opera, Lake George Opera, Nashville Opera, and the Sarasota Opera, where she is Principal Viola and will play her ninth season in 2015. She also has performed regularly with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra since 2002.

Betsy spends most of her time in the recording studio, and has been in the Nashville String Machine since 2008. She enjoys playing on country, pop, gospel and rock recordings, on albums of artists such as Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton, Ben Folds, Ray Price, and many more. She has also been on several film score and video game recordings.

Live show credits of Betsy's include Kristin Chenoweth, Kelly Clarkson, Harry Connick, Jr., Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Ricky Skaggs, and Taylor Swift. She has also been on tour with Casting Crowns, Natalie Grant, Matthew West, and Jimmy Page & Robert Plant. She most recently played the Nashville run of the Book of Mormon show and hopes to play many more shows and musicals in the future.

Betsy lives in the Nations neighborhood of Nashville with her boyfriend Nicholas and her Boston terrier, Giuseppe, who was named after her favorite tenor Giuseppe di Stefano.
