Anna Spina, Horn
Anna Spina, a native of Skokie, IL, was recently appointed 2nd Horn of the Parthenon Chamber Orchestra. She moved to Nashville in the fall of 2014 after having completed a year as 2nd horn with the St. Louis Symphony. Previous to her time in St. Louis, Anna spent a year as 3rd horn with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. She received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University under the instruction of Gail Williams and William Barnewitz. While a student at Northwestern, Anna was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, where she had the opportunity to perform alongside her fellow Civic musicians as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Anna also spent a year at The Colburn School in Los Angeles, studying with Andrew Bain and David Krehbiel. As a student, Anna attended the Spoleto Music Festival in Charleston, SC, the Pacific Music Festival in Japan and spent two summers as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, MA. In addition to her one-year positions with Atlanta and St. Louis, Anna has been an active orchestral freelancer, most notably playing in the sections of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and San Francisco Symphony. She has traveled throughout Europe with both Chicago and San Francisco, and will soon get the opportunity to play with Los Angeles on their tour of Asia in 2015. On a personal level, Anna has a great love for dogs, especially her two pups Charlie and Dory. She is loving her life in Nashville with those two critters and her boyfriend Paul. |
